Teacher arrested in Florida for alleged relationship with teen

As a teacher, you want to protect your students. Sometimes, situations may get out of hand, and that can lead to allegations for acts that may have just been misunderstood. When you face the potential loss of your job and wages along with a possibly damaged reputation, you need to take steps to protect yourself and to avoid career-related consequences.

This case revolves around a woman who allegedly had a relationship with a student. The teacher in Florida has been accused of a child sex charge, according to news from Aug. 18. The woman, a former substitute teacher at the local Canterbury School of Florida, has now been arrested due to allegations that she had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student. The 39-year-old woman had left the school prior to the district finding out about the allegations.

The sheriff's officials stated that they believe the woman befriended the teen when she was a teacher at the school. After that, they began texting to one another in June. She reportedly met the teen at a number of locations around Pinellas County, where she allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with the teen.

The private school has released a statement about the situation, claiming that the students' safety at the school is their primary concern. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office stated that the 39-year-old woman was arrested following an investigation that started in July. They had been alerted to the fact that the woman may have been having an inappropriate relationship with the teen.

The woman has been arrested and charged with a count of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. At this time, she's been released from the Pinellas county Jail on $20,000 bail.
