Teacher faces consequences for alleged lewd conduct in Florida

Being charged with a crime like sexual abuse of students can instantly lead to your being fired and investigated. This teacher could face career-related consequences if these charges are found to be true, despite the fact that he may not have sexually abused any of the students involved. According to a March 24 report, a teacher faces serious consequences after being charged with touching students in an inappropriate manner.

The Fort Pierce high school teacher was arrested on six counts of lascivious or lewd conduct, according to the news. The 68-year-old man was accused of this conduct by six teenaged females who were allegedly victims of the crimes. The man has now been booked into the Indian River County Jail, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office, and he is held on a $600,000 bond.

The investigation has allegedly revealed that the teacher had a mirror under his desk that was directed toward the students in the class. The implication is that it was used to look at the females, but it could equally have been to monitor the class. The language arts teacher has been charged with touching the alleged victims on their thighs, shoulders, hands, and arms, while saying that he couldn't wait until they were 18. According to the news report, he went to the mall, dinner, and sporting events with the students who claimed they would continue to be touched.

After the initial allegations were made, the teacher was moved to the administrative office in the school. However, he was taken into custody later due to the fact that officials believed his conduct went beyond casual or friendly contact. The six alleged victims, ages 14 and 15, claimed the acts had taken place since August 2013. They did report him to the school, which is when he was transferred to the new position away from students.
